How to Make Vietnamese Iced Coffee ( Cafe Sua Da)

vietnameseicedcoffee-acupofmai2

Cafe sua da is a traditional Vietnamese coffee recipe and this is my favorite way to have coffee.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 tablespoons of Cafe Du Monde or (coarse ground coffee)
1-2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
A glass for the brew
A glass filled with ice
Hot water (almost to a boil)
Serve: 1

Directions:
1. With a small glass add 1-2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk
2. Remove the top screen of  metal filter and put in1 1/2 tablespoons of coffee, screw screen back on. Place filter on the glass with the sweetened condensed milk. Pour just a tiny of hot water to cover the grounds and let sit for about 30 seconds.
3. Now loosen the filter screen at 1 full rotation.  Pour hot water to top of the filter, cover and let it sit until water has gone all the way through filter. (usually about 3-5 minutes)
4. After water has passed though filter, remove filter from glass. Stir coffee and milk together. Pour the brew into a glassed filled with ice and serve.

Ideally you want to add the condensed milk to the glass before brewing because the boiling water actually cooks it.  For this recipe I add it after since most readers probably don't know how much condensed milk they want :)
