We're expecting guests this September and the room is a hot mess/blah. Our guest room is in need of a makeover but I didn't want to spend a lot of money. Okay, truth to be told, John didn't want me to spend a lot of money, because he knows how fast I can do that!
Anyhow, the room was painted Benjamin Moore canary yellow when we moved in. So, this weekend I'm thinking adding a few wide white stripes on the wall.
Here's the before:
(sorry for bad lighting--the yellow its actually a lot brighter.)

Love the idea of stripes! We did this in our kitchen and it made the room look separate from the living room. Can't wait to see how it turns out!
Love the new look, Mai! And I think nice fat stripes would look lovely in the guest room :)

can't wait to see the after! I love stripes on the wall. My husband and I are actually trying to find a new place to live (renting) and if/when we do, I totally want to do this to the rooms. It adds such character without trying too hard!

I love the idea of black and white stripes to widen the room. I'm not sure what else you have planned or how it would fit with the rest of your house, but the stark contrasting color is certainly eye-catching if you go that route...
I love the thick, horizontal stripes!!
I adore stripes ... on everything. They make me feel so calm!
