I've never been to Chi Town but i've heard great things about it. I can't wait to see pics from your trip!
I was there last October for a business trip and ate at Purple Pig. It's tapas style food so you can try all the different ways they cook pork. You have to go and try the "Pork Blade Steak with 'Nduja & Honey" it will change your life on how you perceive pork can taste like.
Here is there website: http://thepurplepigchicago.com/index.html
Hey, I'm not sure if you've seen this in the blogsphere, but it might help:

I love Chicago...one of my favorite cities to visit. Have a fabulous time!
Awww I'm envious! My husband has been to Chicago for business, but I've never been there... I've never left West coast (minus Boston for one weekend). I hope you have a great trip. And wow, yeah I know you love this hotel!
Grew up in Chicago suburbs and lived downtown near Lincoln Park after college for a year, but that was 10 years ago, so I don't know all the current hippest places. However, if you have never been to Chicago and you're going to do anything touristy like go to the top of the Sears tower may I suggest the Top of the Hancock building instead? In fact one of my favorite things to do is have brunch at the Signature Room on the 95th floor of the Hancock! Spectacular views and lovely brunch. Or you can go in the evening and have a cocktail at the bar.
Also, best Mexican food at Adobo Grill on N. Wells, next door to the famous Second City. They make the guacamole table-side and it's yummy!
Chicago Art Institute and Millennium Park are also must sees in my opinion.
Have Fun!
Mai, I live in the suburbs near Chicago. We moved here recently and haven't discovered all the hippest spots. But I love dim sum. If you love them too, visit Chinatown. Happy Chef is my favorite dim sum place. If you like to visit furniture stores like me, go to Lincoln Park. There's Chiasso, CB2, West Elm, The White Attic, Room Service, etc. In downtown Chicago, you can visit Room And Board, Jonathan Adler, Design Within Reach, etc.
Also, don't forget the museums! Have fun!

Stumbled upon your beautiful blog. I was in Chicago for business last year and ate very well. Some spots visited: Blackbird, The Publican (went there for brunch, great atmosphere for a lively dinner), The Purple Pig (kind of tucked away, just off Magnificent Mile), Alinea (too late to make reso now...huge splurge but worth it), and for deep dish pizza we checked out Pizzeria Uno.
Oh I almost forgot Bayless'Fontana Grill (popular spot, people queue up early for the brunch) and XOCO for fresh churros and hot chocolate. Never made it out to Hot Doug's, but heard great things about their gourmet hot dogs.
